    COMMUNITY

We understand that being part of a loving, supportive community is a vital part of maintaining freedom. At KEYS, we build this community through: working with the individuals’ own support network, connecting them with others in recovery, engaging with their local church, and accessing other support in their local community. Through our programme, individuals can find friendship and belonging among peers and supporters, and be supported to get connected with their local church for fellowship and ongoing spiritual development. Our Befrienders also help individuals to connect with local community services to tackle the difficult circumstances and disadvantages often connected to addiction such as helping access financial advice, housing support, and foodbanks, as well as employment or volunteering opportunities. This increases the chances of lasting recovery by helping to make the lifestyle changes needed for ongoing freedom.

    SPIRITUAL

The heart of our approach is not only to address the practical aspects of addiction but to help individuals work through the deeper issues at the root of their addiction. Many people are already on or are open to a spiritual route to recovery. We believe in a God of unconditional love and acceptance, and that through Jesus, healing and restoration can be found. It is this love that drives everything we do at KEYS. Through the use of a Christian-adapted 12-step programme, one-to-one support, and prayer ministry when desired, we support individuals to find inner healing as a key part of their ongoing freedom. We aim to support those who are seeking a spiritual route to recovery, however there is no requirement for individuals to be Christian to receive our support

    MEDICAL ADVOCACY

Our teams are trained to support our clients to stabilise and safely reduce their drug or alcohol use, in line with national guidelines and through medical advocacy with the individual's own GP and/or drug & alcohol service. In addition to helping people achieve and maintain abstinence, we have other high-level support that we can offer alongside our ongoing spiritual and community support, such as advocating for relapse-prevention medication or developing comprehensive Recovery Plans. When desired, this may include drug/alcohol testing to provide increased accountability for those in early recovery.

KEYS saved my life. If it wasn’t for this programme, I wouldn’t be married now, living in the community, I wouldn’t have a job. Everything I’ve got today is thanks to KEYS.
