In The Now - A Recovery Poem

Yesterday was heavy
So please put it down

Tomorrow won't be pleasant
If it's started with a frown

We've only got this moment
So live life this way

Yesterday is gone now
It's a million miles away

One foot in Yesterday
And one foot in Tomorrow

Means I'm defecating on today
And fills me up with sorrow

Don't project in the future
And don't live in the past

But don't you shut the door on it
If you want this life to last

Enjoy it while it lasts
Because Yesterday is history

Today is a gift
And Tomorrow is a mystery

We've got 365 pages
In this year's book

We only get one page at a time
We don't get a second look

In the now is where I want to be
Living life in serenity

In the now is the only place I know
So make the of it and don't let it go
