Since January 2025, we have been delighted to be able to share the vision of the SCAR Programme with Drug and Alcohol Agencies across the UK. It has been well received and we are delighted that a number are looking at ways in which they might themselves use the programme.
This was the first major presentation of The SCAR Programme and subsequent feedback and follow up was very affirming and encouraging. Many invitations follwed to to present the programme to drug and alcohol agencies across the country.
As a result of the Manchester conference, Dr Smith was invited to present the SCAR Programme to Aneurin Bevan Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service in Newport. Further serious interest was generated and clinicians there are now looking to implement the programme in their area.
The SCAR Programme was presented by both Dr Keron Fletcher and Dr Steve Smith to clinicians working for Turning Point across the country, at the invitation of Dr Martyn Hull, the national clinical lead for Turning Point. Interest was expressed in how this programme could complement existing clinical pathways.
A Teams presentation to the Senior Clinical Team of Waythrough, a major national drug and alcohol service took place, again resulting from the January SCAR Programme presentation in Manchester.
As a result of the Waythrough meeting, a group of of senior clinicians are planning to meet to explore implementation of the SCAR Programme alongside their service. The group are considering a pilot in Devon.
